| the story of how I ALMOST died (title to be read in like line in Fallen) |
[Sep. 24th, 2007|02:51 pm] |
So I don't to live journal posts terribly often. I figure not all that much in the way of interesting stuff happens to me, but every once in a while there is an event in my life worthy of internet publication.
As many of you know, I work part time as a courier driver now. It's pretty damn easy, I just drive a van around the greater bellingham area and pick stuff up and deliver it else where, mostly bags from banks (no it's not money). Last friday, just before 9 pm I was on the freeway driving back from Blaine. The traffic was light, the road was wet, and it was very dark out. Suddenly there was a fucking deer, right in the middle of my lane, no more than 15 feet in front of me. I swerved to avoid it, over corrected, lost control and tumbled to a stop upside down in the median.
After a moment of deciding what the hell just happened, I undid my seatbelt, slid to the roof of the car, and rolled open my window to escape. A passing truck driver, and other good samaritan type had pulled over to see if I was alright, or needed help. I called the police and my boss on my cell phone. Eventually everything got sorted out. The cop gave me a ticket for excessive speed for conditions that I intend on challenging (A, I wasn't going too fast and B, how would he know if I was anyway?) and my boss gave me a ride back to base where I got back in my car and drove home. Anyway, that's possibly the craziest thing that's ever happened to me. |

| Story of what a swell fella I am, by popular demand |
[Jan. 28th, 2007|06:47 pm] |
I'm walking back from Alex's tour concert downtown last night. I'm like halfway home, when I hear someone walking behind me, further back I hear a guy yelling.
yelling guy: "Nicole!.... Nicole what the fuck!"
She ignores him
yelling guy: "Nicole, what's your problem?"
Nicole: "I'm walking home, I don't want to talk to you"
yelling guy: "Nicole come back here, i'll give you a ride"
she ignores him
yelling guy: "Nikki... FUCK! i'm talkin with you!"
She continues to ignore him, I hear an occasional sniffle from her, and her feet padding along about 2 feet behind me, matching my pace. I don't hear the yelling guy anymore, but soon her cell phone goes off, It's the song "I don't wanna lose your love toniiiiiggghhhht." She silences it, it goes off again. She starts trying to make a phone call, and can't seem to dial the numbers before she's interupted by this guy calling her.
After a couple more failed attempts to call her, I hear him farther back behind us "You may as well pick up the phone Nikki" "I am THIS close to just fuckin throwing my phone at you!" She appologizes for seeming to follow me, and I assure her that I really don't mind. She moves up to walking next to me, and eventually gets a long enough break between calls to get ahold of another guy who can come pick her up.
I end up walking with her up to campus and waiting with her for a while for her ride. She couldn't have been much over 5 feet tall, blond, freshmen, kinda preppy, and case of non-stop nevious chatter. I probably spent all of 15 minutes with her, he probably called 50 or 60 times. She answered him twice, once to tell him she had a ride and would talk to him tomarrow, (he said not to bother, 'cause he never wanted to talk to her again) and once about 2 minutes later when she lied and said she was at home already and clearly couldn't talk untill the next day so she wouldn't wake up her room mate.
Apparently the asshole was an ex-boyfriend from over a year ago... I'm not sure why she set his ring tone to "I don't wanna lose your love" but it worked out, if wrote a scene for a movie in which an obsessive creppy guy called someone every 5 seconds, that's exactly the ring tone i'd want. |

So yesterday was a pretty wierd day, and I suppose it warrents a livejournal post. The first wierd thing was already reported by Brad. I woke up and took a gander at the newspapwer and found Colby's picture was mistakenly printed in an article about a guy who died. That apparently was not enough to satisfy my wierdness quota for the day. I went up to the theatre, compelled to see just how awful Lady in the Water was, and there was an ambulance and like 15 EMTs running around. I guess a guy in monster house was not doing so hot, they brought him out on a streacher a few minutes after I got there. So I go on in to watch Lady in the water. I would estimate there were about 8 people in there with me. I came out later to get myself something to drink, and i'm informed by my co-workers that I am watching Lady in the Water with none other than Napoleon Dynamite. That's right folks, Jon Heder came to Deer Park Cinemas and watched Lady in the Water. |

I've got a cell phone now. I'm not entirely sure why; I don't really talk on the phone much. The important thing is i've got one now. If anyone would like my number who doesn't have it yet, ask and I will send it to you. |

Alright boys and girls of the internet. I want your input. What should I do with my luxurious beautiful facial hair? Don't shave at all and grow a full beard, like a mountain man, or a kevin? Perhaps neat sideburns that attach to my current goatee as one classy gent has suggested? Lose the moustache? Lose the beard? Giant chops? Now accepting all suggestions, stupid, thoughtfull, or just plain silly. I'd include a current picture for effect, but i'm too lazy, use your imaginations. |

I just saw my new favorite episode of Futurama. Planet express is sent to get honey from SPACE BEE's. It was excellent beyond all expectations. It's impressive when a comedy show can occasionaly do something serious and actually pull it off really well. |

| First Day of school |
[Sep. 27th, 2004|05:59 pm] |
So I had my first day of school today, I went pretty well I think. I have some interesting teachers this year. My fist class is world civilizations, and wow, the teacher is intense, he was explaining that we had to bring one of our books everyday..... i got the impression if anyone forgot, he'd rip of their head and sexually abuse the body. He was telling us that his dad hit him and his siblings for no reason, on our first day no less, WHO DOES THAT? my history teacher that's who. So my next class is physics, and it would seem my teacher is a huge nerd. Picture a slighty overweight guy, with a ponytail, goatee and glasses. He introduced us today saying "welcome to fire and brimstone 101, I'm professor Beaslebub." He reminds me of the comic book store guy from the Simpsons. My other class is Art of Film, it should be lots of fun. The teacher is my english teacher from last quarter, and i think he likes me *blush*, and i've got lots of friends in it, and we'll be watching movies, so it's gotta be fun.
I also rethought my halloween costume a little, I wanted to be a musketeer, but I was having trouble finding a hat and big boots, which are absolutely necissary for a good musketeer. My new plan, Aqua comando, it sould be fun. |

| Last weekend before school |
[Sep. 25th, 2004|12:12 am] |
So it's the last weekend before school, and my cousins getting married right here in PA. I'm certainly happy for him, and it's fine to see a bunch of the family and all, but had I for some reason been in charge of the planning, I wouldn't have scheduled it for my last weekend of summer break. Oh well.
My grandma was telling me stories about her college days today. I guess guys used to serenade girls outside their dorm windows at night, and there were panty raids, and atempts to cram lots of people in to small cars, and phone booths. Sounds much more dramatic than what i've experianced, oh well, at least I have color TV, and the internet. |

I have an Xbox now!! It came with an extra controler, the dvd playback thingy, and Mechassault. It's a good game, but mostly i've been playing some games that nathan lent me. Splinter Cell, Halo, and soul calibre 2. I'm slightly addicted at this point, so I haven't been online as much as usual. |

I went to seattle with the 'rents this saturday, we attened sporting events of various sorts. The WSU cougars vs some other college football team, and later on a mariners game. In each case the team we were rooting for lost, maybe we're just not very good fans. At anyrate, Andrhea was a real pal and took my shift so I could go. As for today, it started with more sports, and a little talkin to kearsten while she was at work, what a sucka. This time the sport was football again, with the seahawks, who won, but the more interesting story is that I got a call telling me that I was late for work TODAY! LAME. I was thinkin I didn't have to work until 4:30 today, oh well, it was fine, i'm still employed. So I guess that's about it. |

| hmm, been a couple days |
[Sep. 11th, 2004|01:35 am] |

Well, it's been a couple days. Been up to some stuff. I saw the screening for Resident Evil 2 thursday night. It was fairly entertaining I thought, not terribly good, but my vote was it was fine. I think most people liked it less than me. Afterwards was hangin out at Mikes house, that was fun stuff as well. Ryan was there, haven't seen that crazy guy in a while, he's working AND living in sequim these days. Today (I'm still calling this friday) I watched Hero, I enjoyed that movie alot... even if it was a comercial for communsism. Also, Alex got burnout 3 today, and me and nathan and him played it a bunch. I like that game alot. So that's been the highlights of the last couple days in the life of Tobin I suppose. |

| This post is pretty boring, and I don't recomend reading it |
[Sep. 7th, 2004|11:53 pm] |

I started my string of days off today. It was pretty good. I took a bus into town and visited kearsten for a few mintues, and then I walked up to the college to get my books. GRRRRRR! the bookstore was CLOSED! so I didn't end up getting my books, and then I called my mom for a ride home, and she eventually came to pick me up. I went on a walk with my mom and my dog when we got home, and then my dad showed up and we went out to eat. |

I actually did stuff before work today! Lizzy and I hung out. We wandered around downtown, and went to goodwill, and bothered madeline, and did sidewalk chalk, and bothered kalen. Then the working had to be done. It was at points actually difficult today, a rarity so far at the theatre. We had a rush of people at a point when there were only two of us working concessions.... and it was a little hecktic.... I hope i'm a real pro at this stuff before we get popular movies that sell out and stuff. On the plus side, we're doing winter hours now, so no 9 o'clock movies, and I get off earlier. |

| it's suuunday morning |
[Sep. 5th, 2004|11:10 am] |
|
Once im done working tonight, i'll have many a day off!! That'll be nice. Yesterday was alright though, I did door, the easiest job. Plus, we had a good laugh over a conversation about imaginary phone calls for someone named Marty. AAAAAAANYWAY.... I just got up. My parents are reportedly camping all this weekend, but for the second day in a row they came home in the morning and woke me up GRRRR. If they wake me up tomarow...... TO THE MOON! So yeah, I don't have a lot to say, but kearsten insisted I write something.... i get the impression she's bored. |

| hmmm |
[Sep. 4th, 2004|11:47 am] |
ummmmmm, yesterday I worked concessions for the first time. It went pretty well i think, I didn't put slugs in anyones popcorn. ANYWAY, the highlite of the day came when a girl I was working with hit her head on something, and was on the ground laughing at her self and soothing her injury.... and then another of my coworkers dumped popcorn on her head. We laaaauuughed and laughed, popcorn on the head is the perfect end to any funny situation.
I have the house to myself for the WHOLE weekend.... I also work the whole weekend.... so my options are a little limited. My parents did stop by today though (they're camping someplace) I was sleeping, it was like 10:30.... and my mom accused me of being hungover hahaha, oh my mom. She'll never compleatly belive me when I say I don't drink. |

| Today.... was pretty lame |
[Sep. 3rd, 2004|02:11 am] |
I thought I was going to have a day off today (thursday), and hopefully with an adventure to go with it. Instead I wound up working instead, which had two bits of unpleasentness this time around. 1) I was assigned to stay late tonight, which is slightly more boring than the normal boring times at the theatre, and yeah know.... normaly i'd be at home while i'm stuck at work. and 2) I thought I was going to be paid today, and TOTALY wasn't, in fact, i'm gonna have to wait another 2 weeks before I see a dime of the money i've earned, whoop whoop!
Also.... I need to come up with a good halloween costume this year, the theatre has a contest with PRIZE MONEY!!! *eyes sparkle* |
